About Barbara Nelson Blinn

Barbara Nelson Blinn grew up on a farm just north of Silver Lake, Indiana. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1960 as the class valedictorian. Barbara lived a challenging life raising a handicapped child, and surviving an abusive marriage for over twenty years before escaping with her daughter, Carol.

 

Barbara returned to Indiana Business College in 1986 and graduated in 1987 with a 4.0 GPA. She worked as a factory office manager for several businesses, and as an advertising assistant to a local newspaper before retiring just a few years before her death in 2005.

 

Barbara wrote multiple short stories, a novel, and nearly five hundred poems about her life experiences and other inspirations. Barbara joined multiple state poetry societies, and entered numerous poetry contests, winning distinguished awards such as The World of Poetry Golden Poet Award in 1987, and first-place awards across the country.
