Tennessee Mountain Man

COMING FEBRUARY 27, 2022!

Set in a tiny isolated mountain town in the 1940s, Tennessee Mountain Man is the tale of survival for a mountain man and his wife, Jonathon and Lily McCoy, and their grown daughter’s family.  A mysterious dog is found in the mountains, and Jonathan attempts to tame it and make it his own, much against Lily’s wishes. Danger comes to the McCoys from owning this dog, but this canine is worth any trouble his owner endures because he becomes a beloved hero to several characters in this story.

This book was originally written in 1959 when Barbara was just seventeen years old. She then edited and finalized the book in 1980. Carol further edited the book, having considered taking out the dialect, but decided to do so would remove the warmth and personality of the story. A handy guide within the book will help the reader decipher unfamiliar words.

Barbara Nelson Blinn wrote Tennessee Mountain Man as a heartwarming story of survival and love. She always had a fascination for the outdoors, the woods, and wildlife. Some of the ways of survival mentioned in the book were actually taught to Barbara by her own family. She also utilized friends who previously lived in the mountains as resources.
